The Strait of Hormuz is now closed after Iran took the US and Israel to violate the memorandum.
Vice President JD Vance is expected to engage in talks with Iran in Switzerland. This meeting comes as tensions in the region remain high.
Today, Iran said the Strait of Hormuz will be closed again after Iran accused the U.S. and Israel of violating the memorandum of understanding by Israeli troops not withdrawing from southern Lebanon. However, U.S. Central Command took to social media maintaining commercial vessels are flowing through the strait.
Earlier today, Vice President Vance said the U.S. has all the cards as it negotiates with Iran. He mentioned speaking with Jared and Steve this morning and noted that things are going well, though they will continue to verify the situation. He emphasized that many criticisms of the deal have underappreciated the fact that the United States holds all the cards, noting that the straits are now open and the Iranian military is destroyed.
Iran’s foreign minister and parliament speaker will represent Iran during the talks in Switzerland.
