A 51-year-old Connecticut man named Paul Cucer, from Niantic, fell to his death from an upper balcony at Madison Square Garden during a concert on Saturday night. He was attending the show with his wife in the 300 section when the incident occurred.
Another concert attendee, Justin Hires, who was in section 310, witnessed the event. Hires stated that he saw Cucer midair between sets. He noted that there are plexiglass barriers on that level, which he estimated to be about 4 feet tall, and he described the fall as being from a height of approximately 80 to 100 feet.
Following the tragedy, the band Goose posted a statement on Instagram expressing their deep sadness and gratitude toward the first responders. They also acknowledged Cucer’s death during a concert in Central Park on Sunday. The band is currently working on hosting community gatherings to support fans who are struggling with the grief and trauma resulting from this incident. Cucer’s mother shared that he was a caring individual who would “give you the shirt off his back,” and he leaves behind two children.
