Iran closes the Strait of Hormuz due to ceasefire violations, according to state media reports.

Good day. I’m Corey Coffin in Los Angeles. We come on the air with an update in the war with Iran. Iran says it has closed the Strait of Hormuz over ceasefire violations, citing Israeli strikes on southern Lebanon. That’s according to Iranian state media.

The strait had reopened as part of the US-Iran deal this week. In a statement on X that did not acknowledge the apparent closure, US Central Command said 55 merchant ships transited the strait on Saturday, moving large amounts of cargo and more than 17 million barrels of oil to global markets. It goes on to say, “US forces remain present and vigilant to ensure all aspects of the agreement with Iran are adhered to, obeyed, and in full force and effect.”
